WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State men's golf team will head to Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. to compete in the NCAA Regionals for the eighth-straight time and the 22nd time in school history, May 14-16 at The Farms Golf Club.
The Shockers earned the regional bid by winning their eighth-straight Missouri Valley Conference Championship in school history last week, carding a 54-hole score of 864 (287-286-291) to defeat Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa by 37 strokes.
Senior Louis Cohen Boyer earned Golfer of the Year honors for the second-straight season. He is only the second player in league history to win back-to-back GOY honors. He also earned all-conference honors all four years and is just the sixth player to do that in MVC history.
Freshman Jacob Bishop was named Newcomer of the Year, while Cohen Boyer, Bishop, Grant Bennett and Conrad Walcher were all named to the all-conference team.
Senior Louis Cohen Boyer won individual medalist honors after shooting a 5-under par 67 in the first round, a 3-under par 69 in the second round and a 3-over par 75 in the third round. He is the 19th Shocker to earn medalist honors at the MVC Championship. WSU has now won medalist honors four-straight times.
