ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- No. 59 Wichita State needed less than two hours to complete a 4-0 sweep of Hartford, Friday afternoon in quarterfinal action at the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships.
The Shockers won 22 of 24 games in their three doubles matches to earn a quick point, then carried that momentum into the singles portion.
Ilija Cuic filled for Tin Ostojic at No. 1 singles with a swift 6-0, 6-1 victory. Miroslav Herzan and Jocelyn Devilliers were equally impressive on the fourth and fifth courts, nailing down two more points to clinch the match.
WSU (18-6) advanced to Saturday's semifinal round to face the winner of Southern Illinois and UMBC. The match is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center with victor advancing to Sunday morning's championship.
