Earned All-Missouri Valley Conference status in his final go-around… Posted a 14-10 singles record, including a 14-7 mark in duals while playing mostly at the No. 4 position… Won nine-straight decisions over a 10-match stretch between Feb. 8 and March 16 and held the lead in one unfinished contest to help the Shockers snag dual wins from three nationally-ranked opponents… Played an epic three-set match at No. 4 singles against Drake’s Ravi Patel to decide the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championship but fell 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(5)…. Totaled a 15-5 doubles record while partnering with four different players… Clicked during the second half of the spring with fellow senior Ilija Cuic en route to an 11-2 record… The pair won eight-straight matches to finish out the year, including an 8-7(5) decision against Drake in the final round of the MVC Team Championship that clinched the doubles point for the Shockers…
2013-14 (Junior)
Finished with a 10-8 singles record (8-7 in duals)… Had eight unfinished matches that did not factor into his finalrecord. He led four of them and was even in two others at the time they were called… Bounced back after losing a 6-0 first set to Southern Illinois’ Rafael Caudrillero with 6-1 and 6-2 victories late in the year… Reached the Round of 16 at the MVC Individuals in November and went 2-1 in his three matches there…. Formed one half of “Team Guillermo,” partnering with Guillermo Nicol for 17 of his 19 doubles matches. The duo went 10-7 (3-0 in MVC play) from mostly the No. 3 spot…
Before he was a Shocker:
Spent two years at South Florida where the Spaniard compiled a record of 17-17 in singles play and 19-24 in doubles play...Attended the German College in Zaragoza, Spain where he was coached by Ivan Valls...Played for Real Zaragoza CT where he achieved a No. 195 National Ranking and No. 1 Regional All-Senior and Junior in Aragon...Best tournament finishes include wins at the 2010 Aragon Regional U18 Championship, 2010 Vilas del Turbon National Senior Tournament, and 2009 Aragon Regional Master U18 Championship

Son of Guillermo de Vilchez and Susana Guardiola...Brother to Sergio, who also plays for the WSU tennis team, and Susana... From 2005-08 was Aragon’s judo champion and placed fourth in the national championship...Psychology major...Goes by Willy
