Freshman catcher Gunnar Troutwine had a career day on Saturday against Illinois State. He went 4-for-5 with five RBI and two home runs. They were the first home runs of his career and the four hits and five RBI were also career highs.
Tinkham's Hitting Streak
Junior Ryan Tinkham is currently on a career-best 14-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is hitting .455 (25-for-55) with seven doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, eight walks and two stolen bases.
Hilliard on a Roll
Junior Sam Hilliard is currently on a career-best 10-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is hitting .425 (17-for-40) with two doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI, three walks and two stolen bases. Hilliard has also found a home in the Shocker bullpen. In three relief appearances this season, he has thrown 9.1 innings and has a 2.89 ERA and nine strikeouts.
