WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Central Michigan 10-5 in the series finale.

Ryan Tinkham went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while Daniel Kihle went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Reliever Chase Williams earned the win. He went two shutout innings with a strikeout.

The Shockers got on the board in the bottom of the third with some help from the Chippewas. Willie Schwanke hit a ball to left field that the left fielder lost in the sun for a triple and he scored on a balk to put WSU up 1-0.

The Chippewas tied it at one with a solo home run to left field from Daniel Jipping in the top of the fourth.

WSU jumped back in front in the fifth. Zach Reding led off with a bunt single and moved to third on Schwanke's hit and run single to right field. With one out and runners at the corners, Mikel Mucha laid down a safety squeeze that turned into a bunt single that scored Reding for a 2-1 lead. Chase Rader followed with a single to drive in Schwanke and Daniel Kihle walked with two outs. Ryan Tinkham then doubled down the left field line to drive in both Rader and Kihle to increase the lead to 5-1.

CMU answered in the top of the sixth. Cody Leichman doubled with one out and Jipping followed with a single. Alex Borglin singled up the middle to drive in Leichman and cut the lead to 5-2. With two outs, Joe Houlihan homered to left field to tie the score at five.

Tanner Kirk led off the seventh with a double and moved to third on a bunt single from Mucha. Rader was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Kihle doubled to drive in Kirk and Mucha to give the Shocks a 7-5 lead. Tinkham followed with a single to drive in Rader and pinch hitter Taylor Sanagorski singled to drive in Kihle for a 9-5 lead. Tinkham scored on a sacrifice fly from Jordan Farris for the final 10-5 score.

The Shockers are next in action on Tue., March 10 when they host Central Arkansas at 3 p.m.
