The Shockers won the doubles points and each of the first three singles matches to bring the dual to a close. Three others singles matches were left unfinished.
"We played well throughout the weekend," WSU head coach, Colin Foster said. "We still need to get more aggressive in the doubles - and that will be a point of emphasis this week - but we're still getting the job done."
The Shockers won the first two doubles matches to reach completion. Julia Schiller and Porubin teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 2, and Luca Pump worked with Trifunovic for an 8-6 decision at No. 3.
"In singles, we've continued to play composed, confident tennis, and that's putting us in positions to be successful," Foster noted."
Aleks Trifunovic improved to 11-1 with a win at No. 6 singles over Katerina Matysova, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Gabriela Porubin dropped just two games in a straight-set win over Mary Hanna at the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-1. The victory was her eighth-straight.
Abby Stevens provided the other win at No. 4, beating Spurti Shivalinghaiah, 6-4, 6-4.
The Shockers' win sets up a big road trip next weekend at No. 16 Texas Tech, Friday at 10:00 a.m. Their next home action is slated for March 28 when they take on both Kansas State and Missouri State.
