CRETE, Neb. (6:45 p.m., Feb. 7) --  The small group of pole vaulters and high jumpers that traveled to the Fred Beile Classic at Doane College in Crete, Neb., were highlighted by Taylor Swanson's first-place height of 12-10 3/4 in the pole vault Saturday.

Also in the pole vault, McKenzee Krochell finsihed third (11-3), while the men finished second and third, respectively, with Ethan Pearson and Chris Peters' vault of 15-11.

Macy Ebert finished second in the high jump with a height of 5-5.


 SOUTH BEND, Ind.  (6:20 p.m., Feb. 7) -- Wichita State's men's distance runners turned in two top 15 times on the second day of the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.

Ugis Jocis ran the Mile Run in a time of 4:05.59 to finish 13th overall, while Ryan Hocker ran a 1:51.89 in the 800 meters to finish 15th.

Robbie Martinez-Garcia ran both races today, finishing 19th in the Mile Run with a time of 4:07.56, while his 800 meter time of 1:53.06 was good enough for 26th.

On the women's side, Emilea Finley improved her time in the Mile Run to 4:59.10, good enough for 34th place, but moved her to seventh on the Missouri Valley Conference best list.

In addition, Ebeissa Nyandwi and Sidney Hirsch's times in the 5000 meters from Friday are the top two in the MVC this season.


SOUTH BEND, Ind. (9 p.m., Feb. 6) --  On Friday evening, WSU turned in two top 10 finishes in the 5,000 meters, one each on the women's and men's side at the University of Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.

Ebeissa Nyandwi ran the women's race in a time of 16:56.07, good enough for eighth place while on the men's side, Brady Johnson turned in a time of 14:25.13, which placed sixth.

Also for the women, Sidney Hirsch finished 13th and Lycia Hollon finished 28th with times of 17:05.67 and 17:21.77, respectively.

For the men, Paul Raymond ran the 5,000-meters in a time of 14:38.22 and Kilian Schreiner ran 15:00.32 to finish 18th and 29th, respectively.

(10 a.m., Feb. 6) -- Wichita State's distance runners are traveling this weekend to the University of Notre Dame to compete in the 2015 Meyo Invitational, one of the most competitive meets of the year, while a small group of pole vaulters and high jumpers will travel to the Fred Beile Classic at Doane College in Crete, Neb.

The University of Notre Dame track & field program is the host for the famous Meyo Invitational for the 28th time this Friday afternoon and Saturday at the Loftus Sports Center.

Twelve Shocker distance runners, six men and six women, will compete at the Meyo Invitational, including Tiffany Christensen, Emilea Finley, Robbie Martinez-Garcia and Ugis Jocis in the mile, Sidney Hirsch, Lycia Holon, Ebeissa Nyandwi, Brady Johnson, Paul Raymond and Kilian Schreiner in the 5000-meters, and Kelsey Lathrop, Ryan Hocker, Robbie Martinez-Garcia in the 800-meters and Paul Raymond in the 3000-meters.

The invitational will feature one of the largest fields in history, as nearly 1,000 entries have been accepted representing 49 schools and several track clubs from across the country. The annual event typically averages between 700 and 800 participants.

WSU will send twelve pole vaulters and jumpers to the Fred Beile Classic beginning 11 a.m., Saturday in Crete, Nebraska.
