Here are a few Herm Wilson Invitational Quick-Hitters:
MEN
-On the men's side, it the Herm Wilson Invitational could go down to the last event, the men's 4x400m relay with WSU and Texas Arlington decided by a mere few points in the projections.
-The first event of the day to keep an eye on will be the Weight Throw and Shot Put as Skylar Arneson, Zach Loesch, Weston Cottrell and Taylor Goldsmith continue to improve every meet.
-Some events to watch on the men's side include the 60m with UTA's Quentin Butler having an entry at 6.71 which ranks 40th in the nation along with a host of other athletes that could challenge the 6.7 barrier.
-Another exciting race to watch out for will be the fast section of the 400m with all schools having fast seed times.
-The 800m will be interesting from a WSU perspective as Ugis Jocis, Ryan Hocker and Robbie Martinez-Garcia could all go close to the
meet record of 1.51.68.
-In the Pole Vault, Ethan Pearson is leading the MVC and will go up against the meet record holder and former NCAA champion from Oral Roberts, Jack Whitt as well as several other 17+ foot vaulters.
WOMEN
-On the Women's side, WSU has never lost a meet at the Heskett Center and it looks like that streak could continue this weekend.
-Athletes to watch include 2014 MVC Champions, Nikki Larch-Miller and senior Shanice Andrews.
-Larch-Miller will compete in the Long Jump, 200, 4x400m as well as making her debut in the open 400m.
-Andrews is the number one entry in both the Triple Jump and 60m hurdles.
-Just like the men, the women's 800m race will be exciting from a WSU perspective as Sarah Wright, Kelsey Lathrop and Tiffany Christensen will mix it up with top UTA and Oral Roberts athletes.
-Other events to look out for will be the women's High Jump which includes NCAA qualifier Ashley Peterson competing against Shocker Breanne Borman and quality athletes from both UTA and Emporia State.
-Some of the best high school athletes from Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa will compete in the boys and girls 1600m.
-The meet should end with an exciting finish as both Wichita State and UT-Arlington have strong 4x400m relays.
