PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Both Wichita State doubles entries finished up competition, Wednesday, at the ITA All-American Championship.
 
In the second of three qualifying rounds, the team of Rebecca Pedrazzi and Aleks Trifunovic saw its three-match winning streak come to an end against Duke's 39th-ranked duo of Capra and Hamlin, 8-5.
 
"Becky and Aleks played well. They had a few chances to break but just couldn't connect when they needed to," WSU head coach, Colin Foster said. "They won three competitive matches this week that were very similar to today's, so they should feel confident and hungry to keep growing as a team as the fall continues."
 
After defeating Pedrazzi and Trifunovic, Capra and Hamlin defeated a Fresno State team ranked 38th nationally, 8-4, to advance to the main draw.
 
A day after dropping their first round qualifier, WSU's Julia Schiller and Rebecca Pedrazzi fell 8-4 in consolation bracket action to Syracuse's combo of Knutsen and Salazar Garza.
 
"Julia and Gaby were disappointed with an 0-2 finish after reaching the finals last week at OU, but every one is so good in this event," Foster said. "We've got three more strong tournaments this fall for them to keep growing, and I know they'll bounce back."
 
Following a weekend off, the Shockers next action comes Oct.15-19 at the ITA Central Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla.
