NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Wichita State women finished up play Sunday morning at Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational with singles matches against Auburn and Mississippi of the SEC and three doubles matches against Big Ten Indiana.

Abby Stevens won a competitive match against Auburn's Carolina Turner in a super-set tiebreaker, 6-7(4), 6-4, 1-0 (10-6), and Giulia Guidetti added a win over Allie Sanford of Ole Miss, 6-1, 6-3.

"Giulia continues to build on last weekend's performance," WSU head coach, Colin Foster said. "And we continue to show good depth across the board in singles and doubles."

Guidetti finished 2-1 over the three days, a week after rattling off six-straight victories to win the consolation bracket at the ITA Central Regional Championships.

Overall, the Shockers went 2-4 overall in singles play and 1-2 in doubles on Sunday. The team of Julia Schiller and Gabriela Porubin salvaged WSU's lone doubles victory, defeating the Indiana combo of Baron and Schmider, 6-2. The Hoosiers won the other two matches.

"It was a solid weekend," WSU head coach, Colin Foster said. "When you're in tight matches, things can swing either way. Going 1-3 in tiebreakers was tough. I also thought our opponents played very well in those spots."

WSU takes next weekend off from competition, then closes out the fall season Nov. 6-8 in Dallas at SMU's Red & Blue Challenge.
