WICHITA, Kan. -- For six years the Wichita State Track and Field Team has had five weeks of early morning circuit training on Friday's as a part of their conditioning regimen and as a team-building experience. Friday morning's workouts were captured on video by student-athlete
Seth Buck and can be viewed
here.
The most recent circuit training includes a series of weighted sleds, ropes, tractor tires, weights, situps and plyometric exercises. Three hour-long sessions begin at 6 a.m. with three groups of the approximately 70 student-athletes who are sprinters, hurdlers, multis, pole vaulters and jumpers on the team. Distance runners, who are in the midst of the cross country season, and throwers do not participate in the workout.
The team transitions to the testing phase next week before moving to event-specific preparation the following week.
