DES MOINES, Iowa – Wichita State earned its 30
th-straight win over Drake with a sweep. The Shockers won by scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-11.
Shimen Fayad and
Mikaela Raudsepp led the Shockers with 10 kills each.
Emily Hiebert had 37 assists and
Dani Mostrom had 12 digs.
The first set went back and forth until the Shockers used a 7-1 run to go in front 11-6. A kill by
Abbie Lehman increased the lead to 18-9 and three-straight kills from
Mikaela Raudsepp gave WSU a 25-12 win.
The Bulldogs took an early 7-5 lead in the second set, but the Shockers came back to take a 14-13 lead on a kill by
Katie Reilly. DU used a 4-0 run to take an 18-16 lead, but the Shockers answered with a 3-0 run to go back in front 19-18. The two teams traded points until the Shockers scored the final three for a 25-23 win.
Two service aces from
Shimen Fayad put the Shocks up 9-2 in the third set and WSU increased the lead to 21-8 after back-to-back aces from Hiebert. WSU won the set 25-11 on a kill from Fayad.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 16 when they host Bradley at 7 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
