The Wichita State women's golf team travels to Columbia, Mo., Sept. 29-Sept. 30, for the Johnie Imes Invitational.
The 15-team field will be participating in a 54-hole collegiate tournament to be played at the par 72, 7,221-yard The Club at Old Hawthorne, located in Columbia, Mo.
Joining the Shockers in the tournament are Bradley, Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Illinois State, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma City, Redlands CC, Southern Illinois, South Florida, UALR, and UMKC.
The Shockers are coming off of a fourth place finish at the Chip-N Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 8-9. WSU shot a 900 (299-301-300), which tied for the best 54-hole score in school history.
Junior Meghan Schuetz finished tied for eighth (74-76-72=222) after shooting a 72 in the final round. Her total score of 222 ranked as the eighth-best in Shocker history and it was her sixth top-10 finish of her career.
Sophomore Samantha Stewart, who led after the first two rounds, finished tied for 10th (71-73-79=223). Her total score of 223 ranked as the ninth-best in Shocker history and it was her second top-10 finish of her career.
