MIDLAND, Texas – Through three days at the Midland Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational, the only foe capable of beating Wichita State's Tin Ostojic was mother nature.
Ostojic won his third match of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, ousting TCU's Trey Daniel in straight sets (6-3, 6-2), only to see the championship match rained out. The WSU junior – ranked No. 109 in the preseason ITA Division I Rankings – instead settled for “co-champion” status.
Rain delays delayed the start of each of the first two days and, somewhat fittingly, brought the tournament to an early finish. Ostojic and doubles partner Tomislav Gregurovic were also slated to compete in the doubles semifinals but never made it to the court.
WSU's next action comes in Tulsa, Saturday, Sept. 27 through Thursday, Oct. 2, at the ITA All-American Championships.
