WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete Garrett Bayliff has advanced to the second round of voting for the 2014 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby Fan's Choice Award.
Voting for the 12 finalists who advanced to round two is now open and ends on June 16.
This annual award, now in its third year, recognizes college baseball players who excel beyond the diamond and whose leadership inspires others. The 12 finalists who advanced to the second round demonstrate integrity in all aspects of life, stay active in their community and are dedicated in the classroom.
The winner will be determined by fans through Facebook voting and will be honored at the 2014 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby. Fans can view profiles of the finalists and vote daily by visiting http://apps.facebook.com/tdafanschoiceaward.
The 12 finalists who have advanced and embody the characteristics of the TD Ameritrade Fan's Choice Award are: Pat Wiese, (Le Moyne); Bret Lopez, (Brigham Young); Garrett Bayliff, (Wichita State); Josh Nethaway, (Albany); Robby Sunderman, (Dayton); Casey Hicks, (Gallaudet); Jeff Keller, (Dartmouth); Nic Wilson, (Georgia State); Rene Solis, (St. Mary's, TX); Russell Vaughan, (Texas A&M – Corpus Christi); Dan Powers, (Shenandoah); Erik Lockwood, (Pacific).
The TD Ameritrade Fan's Choice Award is the only college baseball award determined solely by fans. There are two rounds of voting left before the winner is announced: Round Two opens today and ends June 16, after which the field will be reduced to the top four vote getters. The final round of voting will end June 23, and the winner will be officially announced June 24. The winner will be honored at the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby in Omaha, Neb. on July 3, airing live on ESPN.
