DES MOINES, Iowa – Wichita State used double-digit kills from four different players to defeat Drake 3-1. The Shockers won by scores of 26-24, 25-18, 26-28 and 25-19.

MaryAshton Floyd and Abbie Lehman each had 14 kills, while Ashlyn Driskill had 13 kills and Jenny Whitledge had 12. Emily Hiebert led the Shockers with 39 assists and 11 digs, while Dani Mostrom had 29 digs.

The first set went back and forth until Drake used a 5-0 run to take a 19-14 lead. The Shockers answered with a 6-1 run to tie it at 20 and the two teams traded points with the Bulldogs reaching set point at 24-23. A kill from Ashlyn Driskill tied it at 24 and after a DU hitting error, Driskill used another kill to win the set 26-24.

The Shockers used a kill from Mikaela Raudsepp to take a 7-3 lead in the second set. A kill from Driskill increased the lead to 10-4, but Drake pulled to within 20-16 with a kill. WSU closed out the set on a 3-0 run with two kills from Abbie Lehman and a service ace from MaryAshton Floyd for a 25-18 win.

A service ace by Emily Hiebert gave WSU a 10-7 lead in the third set and increased the lead to 19-15 on a kill by Jenny Whitledge. The Shockers used a kill from Driskill to take a 23-19 lead, but DU used a 4-0 run to tie it at 23. The two teams traded points until the Bulldogs scored the final three points for a 28-26 win.

Drake took an 11-7 lead in the fourth set, but the Shockers used a 4-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. The two teams went back and forth until a kill and ace from Hiebert and a kill from Driskill to take a 19-16 lead. WSU used three-straight kills from Floyd to increase the lead to 23-16 and Floyd's kill ended it 25-19.

The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Nov. 1 at UNI at 7 p.m.
