WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State volleyball student-athlete Abbie Lehman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the week of Oct. 13-19.
Lehman, a freshman middle blocker from Newton, Kan., led the Shockers to two road wins over the weekend. She averaged 2.83 kills, 0.17 digs, 1.17 blocks and 3.67 points per set while hitting .567.
In the three-set win over Southern Illinois, she had eight kills with no errors on 16 swings and hit .500. She also added a career-high two solo blocks and one block assist. In the three-set win over Evansville, she had nine kills with no errors on 14 swings and hit a career-best .643. She also added one dig and four blocks. She is now hitting .441 in MVC play.
It is the second MVC Freshman of the Week honor this season for Lehman.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 24 when they host Loyola at 7 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
