TAMPA, Fla. – Wichita State handed defending American regular-season champion South Florida (14-9, 10-2) their first loss at home this season in a 3-0 win on Sunday afternoon. The Shockers (16-8, 8-4) won by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19.

Sydney Dunning led the Shockers with a match-high 16 kills and hit .270.
Jordan Heatherly and
Hannah Hawkins each had 16 assists, while
Gabi Maas had a match-high 12 digs.

The Shockers hit .363 as a team, while holding the Bulls to a .185 hitting percentage.

The first set went back and forth until the Shockers used a 4-0 run to go in front 9-5. The Bulls closed it to 17-15 after a 3-0 run, but kills by Dunning and
Maddie Wilson pushed the lead back to 19-15. The Shockers reached set point on a Bulls hitting error and won 25-21 on a kill by
Emerson Wilford.

The Shockers used a 7-0 run to take an early 8-3 lead in the second set. A 4-0 run behind the serving of
Grace Hett put WSU in front 16-7. The Bulls made it close at 23-20 after a 4-0 run, but a kill from
Nadia Wasilewski gave WSU the 25-21 win.

A 5-0 Shocker run gave WSU an early 11-5 lead in the third set, but USF answered with a 4-0 run to cut it to 11-9. The Bulls took a 17-16 lead, but the Shockers reeled off five-straight to go in front 21-17. Kills from Dunning and
Brooklyn Leggett brought the Shockers to match point at 24-18 and WSU won the set 25-19 on a kill by Dunning.
