WICHITA, Kan- For the second consecutive week, the Wichita State Women's Track & Field team earned a spot in the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association's poll. The Shockers rank No. 25 according to the USTFCCCA.
This is the first time the Shockers have been ranked in consecutive weeks during the outdoor season. WSU held the No.24 spot last week.
Three Shockers currently rank in the top 10 in the NCAA for their event area. Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton currently stands third in the nation in both the 5,000m and 10,000m races.
Tanya Friesen ranks fifth in the nation in the heptathlon. The senior will try to win her second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Heptathlon Champion this week.
Freshman, Mariah Garcia stands sixth in the nation in the discus throw. Garcia leads her closest competition in the Valley by five feet.
The Shocker women till try to win their third consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship in two weeks. The MVC Outdoor Championships will be held May 10-12 in Des Moines, Iowa.
