RIO VERDE, Ariz.- Senior Hollie Weatherburn is in a tie for
second place and freshman Meghan Schuetz is in a tie for 11th after the first
round of the Rio Verde Invitational was completed on Saturday at Rio Verde
Country Club.
Weatherburn shot a 1-under 71 to put herself one shot behind
the leader, Stephanie Kim of Northern Arizona. It the lowest round she has shot
so far in her Wichita State career and the lowest a Shocker has carded this
season. Schuetz was not far behind with a 2-over 74, which is also her best
round as a Shocker.
As a team, Wichita State is in a tie for fifth, carding a
303 to put themselves 15 shots behind the leader, Northern Arizona.
The final round of the tournament will begin on Sunday at 8
