WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State volleyball team defeated Southern Illinois 3-0 on Friday night inside Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers won by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21.

Ashley Andrade led the way with 11 kills, while Chelsey Feekin added 37 assists and Katie Reilly had 11 digs.

Wichita State (14-3, 4-0) jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first set and forced a Southern Illinois timeout after a block by Sam Sanders and Andrade. Later in the set, with the score at 10-4, the Shockers committed four straight errors that cut their lead to 10-8.

After going down 16-12, Wichita State fought their way back into the set, and a block by Ashlyn Driskill and Elizabeth Field put them ahead 20-19. Southern Illinois kept it close, but another block by Katie Reilly and Andrade won the Shockers the first set, 25-23.

The second set was close early with the two teams trading points, but back-to-back kills by Field and Sanders gave the Shockers a 14-11 advantage. After Southern Illinois tied the score at 16, Wichita State went on a 9-3 run and a block by Andrade and Field ended the set, 25-19.

A kill by Feekin early in the third set put the Shockers up 5-1 and forced a Saluki timeout. Later in the set, another kill by Feekin and a service ace by Sam Sanders gave Wichita State a 13-6 advantage. Andrade ended the match with a kill that won the third set for the Shockers, 25-21.

The Shockers will be back in Charles Koch Arena on Saturday for another MVC match against Evansville at 7 p.m.
