Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI won its 59th-straight MVC
match with a 3-1 win over Wichita State.
The Panthers won by scores of 26-28, 25-11, 25-18 and 25-16.
Emily Adney had 15 kills and 11 digs, while Ashlyn Driskill
had 10 kills. Chelsey Feekin had 32
assists and 11 digs, while Jackie Church had 13 digs.
The Shockers took an early 6-2 lead in the first set after a
block by Elizabeth Field and Chelsey Feekin.
UNI used a 4-0 run to tie it at 12 and took the lead at 14-13 with a
kill. The Panthers increased their lead
to 17-14 with a block, but the Shocks came back to tie it at 18 after a block
by Field and Ashlyn Driskill. UNI
reached set point at 24-22, but the Shockers scored three-straight to take a
25-24 lead. UNI took a 26-25 lead, but
kills by Sam Sanders and Emily Adney and
a service ace from Sanders gave the Shocks the 28-26 win.
It was all UNI in the second set. The Shockers lead the set 3-2, but the
Panthers used a 4-0 run to take a 6-3 lead and UNI never looked back in the
25-11 win.
UNI took a commanding 12-5 lead in the third set. The Shockers used a late 3-0 run to pull
within 22-18, but UNI closed out the set with three-straight kills for a 25-18
win.
The two teams raced out to a 7-7 tie in the fourth set, but
it was all UNI after that. UNI took a
20-12 lead with a kill and won the set 25-16.
The Shockers are next in action on Wed., Oct. 3 at Oklahoma
at 6 p.m.
