Scouting Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is currently 18-16 overall and 5-7 in the Big 12.  OSU is coming off of a series loss at Texas over the weekend.  Wins this season have come against Dallas Baptist, St. Gregory's, Bowling Green State three times, TCU, Alabama A&M three times, Arkansas-Pine Bluff twice, Houston, Missouri, Arkansas-Little Rock, Kansas three times and Texas.  Losses have come against Cal Poly three times, Missouri State twice, TCU twice, Houston twice, Missouri twice, Baylor three times and Texas twice.  As a team, the Cowboys are batting .269 with a team ERA of 3.17.  OSU is led offensively by Robbie Rea who is batting .319 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 26 RBI.  The Cowboys are led by ninth-year head coach Frank Anderson.

Series History vs. the Cowboys
Oklahoma State leads the overall series with Wichita State, 52-34, but the Shockers lead the series 32-27 under head coach Gene Stephenson.  OSU leads the series 23-14 in Wichita, but the Shockers are 13-13 in Wichita under Stephenson.  The two teams have split the last 10 meetings overall. 

Last Meeting vs. OSU
The last meeting between the two teams was April 26, 2011 in Wichita.  The Shockers won the game 6-5.  Johnny Coy went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a home run.  Reliever Zach Beringer earned the win and Cale Elam picked up the save.

Parker Named MVC Player of the Week
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Dayne Parker has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week for the week of April 9-15.
Parker, a sophomore infielder from Roff, Okla., went 9-for-22 (.409) with eight runs, four doubles, two home runs and four RBI in five games last week.  He had a hit in all five games to extend his hitting streak to six games. 
At Kansas on Tuesday, he went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI and hit his first career home run.  On Wednesday against KU, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double and in game one at Evansville, he went 1-for-4 with an RBI and his second home run of the week.  In game two against the Aces, he went 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a double and in game three, he went 4-for-6 with three runs and two doubles. 
He had an extra base hit in every game last week and had a slugging percentage of .864.  He also had a perfect fielding percentage in 24 total chances at shortstop and second base.
It is the first Player-of-the-Week honor of his career.

Gillaspie Moves Up
Freshman Casey Gillaspie homered three times in five games this week to give him eight on the season.  The eight home runs by a freshman is tied for ninth in the Shocker record books with Kurt Bradbury who did it in 1978.  It is the most home runs hit by a freshman since Eric Wedge hit 11 in 1987.  The freshman record is 19 set by Joe Carter in 1979.

Hall Leads the Way
At Kansas on April 10, Kevin Hall recorded his ninth sacrifice hit of the season.  He now has 20 for his career and moved into first place in the Shocker record books in career sacrifice hits.  He passed Tyler Hill who had 19 from 2005-08.
 
16-Innings
Wichita State defeated Kansas in 16 innings on April 10.  It is tied for second in the Shocker record books for longest game.  The record is 17 innings which was set in 2011 at Oregon.

Gillaspie Homers Twice
Freshman Casey Gillaspie had his first career multi-home run game on April 1 against Southern Illinois.  He also had two at Evansville on April 15. He is the first freshman to have two multi-home run games since Conor Gillaspie against Kansas on April 5, 2006 and at Oklahoma on June 4, 2006.

Back-to-Back
In game one of the doubleheader against No. 24 Purdue on March 17, Johnny Coy and Casey Gillaspie hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning.  It was the first back-to-back home runs for the Shockers since April 17, 2011 when Johnny Coy and Preston Springer went back-to-back against Evansville.  Gillaspie and Micah Green also went back-to-back at Evansville on April 15.

MVC Stats
Wichita State is fourth in the Valley in batting average, fourth in ERA and fifth in fielding percentage.  Johnny Coy is 12th in batting average, first in RBI, third in hits, and third in total bases.  Casey Gillaspie is second in home runs. Kevin Hall is third in stolen bases, Taylor Doggett is fourth in stolen bases and 10th in batting average and Don Lambert is 20th in batting average and fifth in stolen bases.  Josh Smith is 11th in ERA and fourth in strikeouts and Foster Vielock is third in ERA.
