Box Score TULSA, Okla. - Wichita State pounded out 16 hits in a 10-3
win over Oral Roberts.
Ryan Hege went 3-for-4 with five RBI, while Kevin Hall went
3-for-5. Don Lambert finished 1-for-4 with four RBI. Starter Kris Gardner earned the win going
four innings and giving up one run on two hits with two walks and four
strikeouts.
The Shockers used a two-out rally to begin scoring in the
first. Garrett Bayliff singled through
the left side with two outs and advanced to third on a single to right field by
Johnny Coy. Casey Gillaspie singled off
the pitchers glove to bring in Bayliff and then Don Lambert homered to right
field to make the score 4-0.
WSU put up another crooked number in the fourth. Kevin Hall led off the inning with a single
and after a single by Harbutz and walk by Bayliff loaded the bases, Lambert
walked to drive in a run. Ryan Hege then
doubled in two runs to give the Shocks a 7-0 lead.
ORU got on the board in the fifth inning. After an error and a single put runners at
the corners with no outs, reliever TJ McGreevy induced a double play as a run
scored to make the score 7-1.
A three-run home run from Hege in the sixth increased the
lead to 10-1. Jared Schlehuber homered
in the seventh for the Golden Eagles to cut the lead to 10-2. ORU added another run in the eighth.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Feb. 24 when they
host North Dakota at 2 p.m.
