4/18/2026 4:30:00 PM

Box Score GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina starter Ethan Norby allowed just one run over six strong innings while striking out nine, powering the Pirates to a 7-1 win over Wichita State on Saturday afternoon at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

East Carolina (24-15-1, 9-5) did most of their damage early, putting two runs on the board in both the first and third innings, plus a single run in the fourth. Brayden Bachman got the scoring started with a two-run home run against Wichita State starter Dax Sharp (0-1), then played a big part in the third inning rally with an RBI double and a run scored on Colby Wallace's run-scoring single.

Sharp exited after just two innings, allowing two runs. Brady Hamilton worked the next 4.2 frames for Wichita State, conceding seven hits and four runs.

Wichita State (23-17, 7-7) got their only run of the day in the top of the fourth when Alex Ulloa punched a two-out RBI single, one of three hits on the day for Ulloa to lead the Shockers. That hit trimmed the ECU lead to 4-1, but the Pirates got the run right back in the bottom of the inning and added single runs in the seventh and eighth against the Shocker bullpen to produce the final score.

Joseph Webb worked the final three innings out of the East Carolina bullpen to earn the save.

The Shockers and Pirates conclude the series on Sunday morning at 10:00 am CT.
