WICHITA - The Wichita State University women's basketball
team began its first official day of practice on Wednesday. The Shockers are coming off a program
record-tying 20-win season.
Wichita State returns three starters, including first team
All-MVC performer Jessica Diamond and MVC All-Freshman Team member Alex
Harden. Seniors Chynna Turner and
Jazimen Gordon have been starters for the majority of their careers while Molly
O'Brien, Kelsey Jacobs, Jasmine Jones and Nicole Wells all contributed in
2011-12.
Newcomers include senior transfer Darice Fountaine and
freshmen Alie Decker and Michaela Dapprich.
Additionally, junior Michelle Price returns to the court after sitting
out last season for medical reasons.
The Shockers host two exihibtion games this year - Sunday,
Oct. 28 vs. Harding University and Sunday, Nov. 4 vs. Central Oklahoma. The season begins on road at LSU on Sun.,
Nov. 11 and the home opener is scheduled for Sun., Nov. 18 vs. UTSA.
