SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Multi-event athletes Austin Bahner and Toby Boese kicked things off for the Wichita State University track and field program as the Shockers traveled to California to compete in the Sacramento State Mondo Mid-Major Challenge.
The Mondo Mid-Major Challenge is a three day meet that began on Thursday, April 7, and runs through Saturday, April 9.
Bahner leads the field after day one 3,838 points while Boese sits in third 3,483 points. Bahner, the Missouri Valley Conference indoor long jump champion, ran a 11.09 in the 100-meter dash and followed that up with a leap of 23' 8" in the long jump. Boese had a big personal best of 22' 9" in the long jump competition and tallied a mark of 39' 5.75" in the shot put competition.
