Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State scored four in the seventh
inning to come back and beat Wichita State 8-7 in the third game of the series.
Ryan Hege went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a home run, while
Chris O'Brien went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a double and Don Lambert went
2-for-3 with three runs and a triple.
Reliever Aaron LaBrie took the loss. He pitched one inning and gave up one run on
one hit.
Grant Muncrief pitched four shutout innings in relief with
one hit, two walks and two strikeouts.
Tyler Grimes led off the game with a double down the left
field line and scored on a one-out double to left field by Chris O'Brien to
give the Shocks a 1-0 lead.
The Bears tied the game in the bottom of the first. With one out, Kevin Medrano doubled to right
field and then scored on a single by Spiker Helms to tie the score at one.
The Shockers didn't waste any time retaking the lead. Don Lambert and Tyler Coughenour both reached
on errors to start the second inning and a bunt by Dayne Parker moved them over. Ryan Hege then singled up the middle to drive
in both runs to give the Shocks a 3-1 lead.
MSU again answered with two runs in the bottom of the
second. Brock Chaffin led off the inning
with walk and after a one-out walk to Travis McComack, Brett Marshall singled
to right field to drive in Chaffin and move McComack to third. Aaron Conway's sacrifice fly scored McComack
to tie the game at three.
With two outs in the third, Lambert walked and stole
second. Coughenour then reached and
Lambert scored on a throwing error by Bears third baseman Brent Seifert to put
the Shocks in front 4-3.
Helms was hit by a pitch to lead off the third and moved to
third base on a single by Seifert. Grant
Muncrief then came in the game and got a double play ball, but Helms scored to
tie the game at four.
Lambert tripled with one out in the fifth and single up the
middle by Coughenour gave the Shocks the lead at 5-4. Then with two outs, Hege hit his second home
run of the season to put the Shocks in front 7-4.
The Bears used two walks, a double and a home run to take
the lead in the seventh and make the score 8-7.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., April 12 when they
host Nebraska at6:30 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
