ST. LOUIS -- Wichita State University track and field athlete Jordan Zerr was honored by the Missouri Valley Conference following the indoor championships as the senior was recognized as the men's Elite 18 award winner following the meet.
The Elite 18 academic program is modeled after the NCAA Elite 88 Academic Recognition Award Program and is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the MVC's 18 team championships. The program began in the fall of 2010 in an effort to honor the highest achievement in academics and athletics by a student-athlete in each conference sponsored sport.
Zerr finished second in the heptathlon during the indoor championships, earning all-conference honors and setting a new personal best. The Grinnell, Kan., native has also appeared on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team and conference honor roll and has a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average.
