WSU Signs Two Volleyball Players in Early Period

WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State has received a National Letter of Intent from two volleyball players in the early signing period, Head Coach Chris Lamb announced today.

Katy Dudzinski, an outside and right side hitter from Elburn, Ill., and Katie Reilly, an outside hitter and middle blocker from Houston, Texas, have signed National Letters of Intent with the Shockers for the 2012 volleyball season.

"They are multi-position players," Lamb said. "They have great motors and go hard, and both really look like Shocker recruits -- good fits for the Missouri Valley and a good fit here."

Dudzinski earned all-conference and all-area honors as well as the top offensive player award the last three seasons at Kaneland High School.  She also earned the all-Kane County Junior award as a freshman and junior, the Coachability Award as a junior and the Brick Wall Award as a junior and senior.  During her junior season, she had 344 kills, 47 blocks and 87 digs and as a senior she had 309 kills, 51 blocks and 93 digs.  Katy plays for the club team the Kane County Juniors and is the daughter of Dave and Barb Dudzinski.

"She could be a four-year point scorer in the Missouri Valley," Lamb said. "She is someone who probably could play three positions. She is a great competitor and also has had a lot of volleyball success."

Reilly earned first team all-district honors as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.  As a junior and senior, she also earned first team all-state honors as well as district MVP, all-state tournament team, MVP of her high school team and academic all-state.  During her senior season, she had 58 service aces, 284 digs, 449 kills and 116 blocks and during her junior season she had 67 service aces, 176 digs, 550 kills and 71 blocks.  Katie plays for the club team Houston Juniors 18 Elite and is the daughter of Sherri and Chris Reilly.

"She is a girl we have had our eye on for four years," Lamb said. "She has been on great teams her whole club career and kind of surrounded by a lot of talent. She's capable of doing a lot of things. We think she can have a pretty broad skill set here."
