Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - A career-high 19 kills from Elizabeth
Field wasn't enough as Wichita State fell in five sets at Evansville. The Purple Aces won by scores of 25-22,
18-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 15-10.
Emily Adney had 17 kills, Camri Zwiesler had 13 kills and 17
digs and Ashley Andrade had 11 kills and seven blocks. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 58 assists
and 11 digs, while Sarah Waldorf had 21 digs.
The Purple Aces took an early 3-0 lead in the first set and
increased it to 14-8 with a block.
The Shockers used four-straight points to pull within 23-22, but UE
closed out the set 25-22 with a kill and a block.
The second set went back-and-forth until the Shockers used
two kills from Ashley Andrade, a kill from Emily Adney, a service ace by Mary
Elizabeth Hooper and a kill from Camri Zwiesler to take a 15-8 lead. Back-to-back kills from Sam Sanders
made the score 21-12 and the Shockers finished the set with a kill from
Elizabeth Field for the 25-18 win.
Six-straight kills from the Shockers put WSU up 7-2 in the
third set. A block by Sanders
increased the lead to 18-7 and the Shockers never looked back in the 25-15 win.
A Field kill gave the Shocks a 12-9 advantage in the fourth
set, but a WSU hitting error allowed UE to tie the score at 17. The two teams went back-and-forth until
the Aces scored the final three points of the set to win 25-22.
The Aces took an early 7-4 lead in the fifth set and the
Shockers could get no closer then two points the rest of the way as UE won
15-10.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Oct. 15 at Southern
Illinois at 7 p.m.
