HOUSTON, Tex. -- The Wichita State University men's and women's track & field team members were at the Shirley Crowe Decathlon & Heptathlon meet for the first day of competition on Wednesday, Mar. 17.

On the women's side, freshman Tanya Friesen led the Shockers with 2,871 points with Jamie Pruter the next WSU athlete coming in with 2,499 points. Whitney Sorell also eclipsed the 2,000 point plateau with 2,083 after the day's competition.
For the men, NCAA Indoor All-American had 3,800 points with fellow senior, Justin Taylor, coming in behind Dickman with 3,779 points. Jordan Zerr registered 3,328 points with Justin Hickey (3,362 points), Devin Dick (3,307 points), Toby Boese (3,147 points) and Alex Freshour (3,074 points) also competing for the Shockers.
Wichita State will continue to do battle during the second day of competition of the Shirley Crowe Decathlon & Heptathlon meet as day two festivities continue on Thursday, Mar. 18, at 3 p.m.
