Dickman, Simmons Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Senior heptathlete Chris Dickman currently sits in 11th place after the first day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships while Tyler Simmons placed 11th in the men's long jump on Friday, Mar. 12.

Dickman placed third in the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 6.93 and reached 22' 1 3/4" in the men's long jump. In the men's shot put Dickman was 15th with a top throw of 37' 7 3/4" and in the final event of the day, the men's high jump, Dickman was sixth as he cleared the bar at 6' 5".

Simmons, competing in the first flight, jumped 24' 11 3/4" to finish 11th out of the 15 competitors, but was the eighth american to finish, giving him All-American status.  Simmons holds the Wichita State University indoor long jump record at 25' 6 1/4".

Dickman will be in action again tomorrow as he looks to move up the standings with the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meter run scheduled for day two.
