Nottingham, GREAT BRITAIN – Nick Taylor, Shocker men's tennis volunteer assistant coach, and quad doubles partner David Wagner defended their title when by defeating Great Britain's No. 1 quad doubles team to win the British Open Quad Doubles championship on Saturday.
After playing back-to-back matches on Friday to secure their spot in the title match, Taylor and Wagner put on a well-battled show. The duo faced Great Britain's Peter Norfolk and Jamie Burdekin and took the first set, 6-2, before falling to their English counterparts in the second set, 6-7 (3). The deciding match also remained close, but Taylor and Wagner hung on for the 6-4 victory to claim the doubles title.
Referred to as one of the four majors in wheelchair tennis, the British Open has hosted many Taylor victories. This title is Taylor's eighth doubles title in his nine years competing in the tournament.
