WICHITA, Kan. ? Two Wichita State baseball student-athletes have been named Freshman All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Starting pitchers
Jordan Cooper and
Charlie Lowell were both named to the second team.
Cooper, a right-hander from Berryton, Kan., went 8-6 with a 2.78 ERA. He also struck out 91 in 97 innings pitched. He led the team in wins, ERA and innings pitched. He also earned Valley Pitcher-of-the-Week honors four times.
Lowell, a left-hander from Old Monroe, Mo., went 6-2 with a 2.95 ERA. He also struck out 63 in 64 innings pitched. He earned Valley Pitcher-of-the-Week honors once in 2009.
It is the second Freshman All-America honor for both Cooper and Lowell this season. They were both named first team Freshman All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball.
