LINCOLN -- The Wichita State University track and field team will compete at the Nebraska Quad this weekend at Ed Weir Stadium in Lincoln, Neb., while All-American distance runner
Kellyn Johnson will take on the competition at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.
Johnson, who has broken a school record in each of the last two weeks, will look for her third straight in the 5000 meters. Two weeks ago, the senior ran a time of 2:06.12 in the 800m to break the old WSU record of 2:07.54 then came back last week to break the WSU 1500m record of 4:19.95 with a time of 4:17.36. She is ranked first in the Valley in each of those events, and in the top 16 in the nation.
The entirety of the Shocker squad will be at Nebraska in a four-team meet with the host, as well as Kansas State and Northern Iowa. Valley leaders Brooke Demo,
Audacia Moore and Ian Lindstrom will be in action. Demo leads the conference in the pole vault by six inches with a season-best of 13-7.25, whil Moore is first in the 100m at 11.67, and third in the 200m at 24.26. Lindstrom leads the Valley in the men's triple jump with his regional mark of 49-5, while also ranking fourth in the long jump (23-7.5).
The event will start at Noon on Saturday with the women's hammer throw and the men's javelin. Action on the track is set to begin at 1 p.m. with the women's 3,000m steeplechase.
