WICHITA, Kan.--Jared Foley, Nate Thiesfeld, Keith Blanding and Chris Dickman, otherwise known as WSU's men's track 4x400m relay team, were named the WSU Athletes of the Week after a record-setting performance the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
The 4x400m relay team started with a 48.5-second carry from lead leg Jared Foley. Nate Thiesfeld took the baton next and kept the Shockers in position at the front with a 47.8-second leg before handing to Keith Blanding. Blanding held the Shockers near the front with a 48.2-carry and handed off to speedy anchor Chris Dickman, who helped the Shockers finish third at the adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb. with a school-record time of 3:13.03, behind nationally-ranked Nebraska and Illinois.
The previous record of 3:13.31 was set in 2001 by the combination of Bruce Swan, Derrick Powell, Stefan Johannson, and Viktors Lacis.
