• The Wichita State women's basketball team wraps up a season-best five-game homestand when the Shockers play host to Northern Colorado at 7:05 p.m., Friday night inside Charles Koch Arena.
• The game will be broadcast live on KNSS 1330 AM with voice of the Shockers Mike Kennedy on the call for the first time this season.
• Friday's contest is just the second between the schools, as WSU won the first meeting by 25 points back in 2006. The game will not be returned by Wichita State next year in Greeley, Colo.
• Northern Colorado comes in 2-4 after picking up its second win of the season on Wednesday night, an 79-77 overtime thriller over Colorado Christian. The Bears also have a win over Cal-State Northridge after opening the season with three losses on the road in the Preseason WNIT. Courtney Stoermer leads the Bears with more than 16 points per game while guard Whitley Cox adds more than 14 points per contest.
• WSU is 3-1 all-time against the Big Sky Conference, with wins over Northern Colorado and Portland State, and a 1-1 record against Northern Arizona.
• Wichita State is 11-1 under head coach Jody Adams in non-conference home contests. WSU's only loss was a 65-58 defeat at the hands of Kent State last December. The Shockers have won those games by an average margin of more than 11 points per game. WSU has won six-straight non-conference home games, and are 19-1 in the last 20 out of league contests inside Charles Koch Arena.
• The Shockers picked up their fourth-straight win on Wednesday over Loyola. The last time a Wichita State team won four games game back in late December of 2005. WSU has not won five-straight games since 2003 and has not won five-straight non-conference games since 1998.
• At 4-1, WSU is off to its best start since 2002, and a 5-1 start would be the best since 1999. Wichita State's last two teams to begin the season 5-1 advanced to the Postseason WNIT. The Shockers have failed to finish with a winning record after a 5-1 start just once, as the 1986-87 team ended the season 12-14 after a 6-1 start.
• Wichita State's four-game winning streak is the second-longest active streak among MVC schools behind Indiana State, who has opened the season 6-0.
