Box Score DES MOINES, Iowa ? Wichita State improved to 13-0 overall
and 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference with a sweep of Drake. The Shockers won by scores of 25-17, 25-21
and 25-21.
The first set went back-and-forth until the Shockers grabbed
a 9-4 lead after a kill by Lindsey Eckenrode.
An Emily Stockman kill put the Shocks up 17-11 and WSU never looked back
in the 25-17 win.
Drake led early in the second set until the Shockers took
their first lead at 12-11 with a block. The
Bulldogs again went back in front at 14-12, but again the Shockers responded to
take a 17-15 lead. The set remained
close, but WSU held on to win 25-21.
The teams raced out to an 11-11 tie in the third set before a
block by Sarah McGee gave WSU a 15-12 lead.
The teams traded points until a block by Sarah McGee and Mary Elizabeth
Hooper gave the Shocks a 25-21 victory.
Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 11 kills, while hitting
.321. Mary Elizabeth Hooper led the
Shocks with 32 assists, while Kelly Broussard had 21 digs.
The Shockers are next in action on Saturday night at
Creighton. The match begins at 6 p.m.
