WICHITA -- Senior Ashly Bright tossed a two-hit shutout as Wichita State (12-7) won its third-straight with a 7-0 victory over Oklahoma State (10-10) Wednesday night at Wilkins Stadium.

Bright (7-5) tossed a gem, giving up just two hits while walking one and striking out eight en route to the win. Amanda Crabtree (5-7) took the loss for the Cowgirls, charged with all seven Shocker runs on the night.

Katie McGeeney led the Shocker offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with a run and two driven in, while freshman Heather Gerritse went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI as well.

The Shockers got on the board first with a pair of runs in the second, thanks to a Katie McGeeney single to left that scored Jamie Stanclift and Lindsie Mitts giving WSU a 2-0 lead. Mitts reached on a passed ball third strike by the Cowgirls' catcher, allowing the Shockers to push two runs across.

WSU did even more damage in the fourth when sophomore Lauren Coleman reached to lead off the inning after being hit by a Crabtree pitch before Kiersten Dixon moved her to third with a double that landed at the bottom of the wall in right center. McGeeney then reached on a Cowgirl error that allowed Coleman to score before Kara L'Huillier laced a single just past the shortstop to bring Dixon home, giving WSU a 4-0 lead. Britnee Barnett brought McGeeney home after ripping a double through the left side before a Heather Gerritse infield single brought home both L'Huillier and Barnett, giving the Shocks a 7-0 edge after four.

Breana Casaus broke up Bright's no-hit bid in the top of the sixth with a perfectly placed bunt single but Bright got out of the inning with no harm done keeping the Cowgirls off the scoreboard for her third shutout of the season.

WSU is next in action at home this weekend for the Shocker Invitational at Wilkins Stadium.
