#34 Women's Tennis hosts Oklahoma Friday

WICHITA, Kan. -- The Shocker women's tennis team will take on Oklahoma Friday. The time and location of the match has changed. It will begin at 6 p.m. and will be played at Crestview Country Club's indoor facility.

Wichita State (0-2) is looking for its first win of the season after two tough losses at Georgia and Kansas State, respectively. The Shockers are ranked 34th in the latest ITA National poll, and are led by junior Stephanie Dalmacio, the 77th-ranked singles player in the nation.

Tuesday night, the Shockers dropped a 5-2 decision to Kansas State at Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan. Lenore Lazaroiu and Laryssa Ferreira picked up WSU's only wins in singles play, while Lazaroiu teamed with Anna Egorova for the Shockers' only doubles win. In singles play, Lazaroiu defeated KSU's Antea Huljev in a 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-6) decision, while Ferreira downed Olga Klimova, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). In doubles, Lazaroiu and Egorova defeated Klimova and Katarina Kudlackova, 8-2.

The Shockers are 2-28 all time against the Sooners, and are 0-11 at home. This will mark the first meeting of the two teams since the 2005 season, when Oklahoma won a 7-0 decision in Chris Young's first year as Shocker director of tennis.
