Box Score

LAKE BUENTA VISTA, Fla. -- Austin Freeman recorded 18 points and DaJaun Summers added 14 to lead Georgetown (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) to a 58-50 win over Wichita State in a first-round game Thursday at the Old Spice Classic.

Georgetown preserved the victory by making all eight free throws during the last minute of the game.

Wichita State (2-2) got 11 points from David Kyles, while Ramon Clemente posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. After seeing a 10-point, second-half lead cut to one, Freeman made a jumper and Summers hit a 3 to extended Georgetown's advantage to 48-42 with four minutes remaining.

Kyles completed a 10-2 run with a three-point play to get Wichita State within 40-38 midway through the second half. Clemente's rebound basket at the six-minute mark cut the Shockers' deficit to 43-42. But the Hoyas limited WSU to just four points over the next five-minutes to pull out the win.

The Shockers outrebounded the Hoyas 38-25, and made more three-pointers (5-2) than the Hoyas, but GU shot nearly 48-percent on the afternoon.

WSU now advances in the consolation bracket to take on Sienna at 9:30 a.m., CT Friday morning. The game will be shown on ESPNU.
