Box Score WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State improved to 4-1 in Missouri Valley Conference action with a sweep of Evansville (8-7, 2-2). The Shockers (12-4) won by scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-12.
Emily Stockman led the Shockers with 16 kills and 10 digs, while Abby Harsh had 38 assists and 17 digs. Kelly Broussard had a team-high 19 digs for WSU.
The teams raced out to a 12-12 tie in game one and it went back-and-forth until WSU took a 25-22 lead on a kill by Angela Jakubov. The Shockers closed out the game 30-26 on a service ace by Melissa Granville.
Abby Harsh served the Shocks to an 8-3 lead in the second game and WSU increased it to 14-6 on an Ace error. UE went on a 3-0 run to cut it to five and the teams traded points throughout the middle of the game. The Shocks took a 27-19 lead on a UE service error, but the Aces scored five-straight to cut it to 27-24. WSU scored the final three points of the game to win 30-24.
The Shockers jumped out to a 12-6 lead in game three behind the serving of Emily Stockman and increased it to 17-8 after a kill by Sara Lungren. A service ace by Katie Niggemeyer gave the Shocks a 21-10 lead and WSU won the game 30-12 on a kill by Lindsey Eckenrode.
The Shockers next host Southern Illinois at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
