Box Score WICHITA, Kan. ? Katie Niggemeyer recorded 12 kills and Amanda Moore added eight to give Wichita State (11-4) a sweep over Chicago State (1-15) and its fourth match victory in a row.
The Shockers opened game one on a 5-0 run behind the serving of Abby Harsh. The Cougars scored two-straight before Emily Stockman served six-straight to give WSU an 11-2 lead. Stockman
went on another long serving run toward the end of the game by serving
nine in a row to give the Shocks a 29-8 lead and WSU won the game 30-10
on a kill by Stephanie Tokarz.
Game two went back-and-forth early until back-to-back kills by Lindsey Eckenrode gave the Shocks a 13-5 lead. Katie Niggemeyer served seven-straight to give WSU a 29-10 lead and an Eckenrode kill ended the game at 30-11.
After Chicago State
jumped out to a 5-1 lead in game three, the Shockers took the lead back with six
straight points including kills by Niggemeyer, Angela Jakubov, and Kim
Wadsworth.
The
Shockers seized control of game three scoring 11 consecutive points for
a 27-14 lead. During the run, Jakubov record two kills and Niggemeyer
tallied one.
Niggemeyer
put the finishing touches on the three-game sweep with a match-point
kill to give the Shockers their four match victory in a row. Niggemeyer
led the Shockers with 12 kills, hitting a .667 clip.
Kelly Broussard recorded 15 digs and Abby Harsh led WSU with 20 assists.
The Shockers next host Evansville and Southern Illinois on Friday and Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
