Donnie Wallace

Donnie Wallace is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Shockers after serving the previous two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for Wichita State.

He helped guide Wichita State to the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles. He helped the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Wallace came to WSU after serving as the head volleyball coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. He led the Builders to the most wins in at least five seasons and their highest KCAC tournament seed in more than a decade.

While coaching at Southwestern, Wallace founded the Wichita Xpress Volleyball Club. Wichita Xpress teams won the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier in 2013 and achieved several top 10 finishes at other national qualifier tournaments. 

Wallace’s volleyball coaching career started with an impressive stint at Wichita Collegiate School. For the first time in school history, the Spartans went to the state tournament and won the class 3A state championship. That year, Wallace was named All-Metro Coach of the Year.

He also worked as the Assistant General Manager at the Wichita Sports Forum from November 2015 until April 2016.

Donnie has been the head club volleyball coach for the Shockwave Volleyball Academy since July 2014 and also has men’s basketball coaching experience including as a graduate assistant at WSU (2005-06), as an assistant at Cuyamaca College (2004-05) and as an assistant at Riley County High School (2002-03).

Wallace earned a bachelor’s degree in physical sciences from Kansas State in 2003 and a master’s degree in sport administration from Wichita State in 2007.

Donnie and his wife Danielle reside in Wichita with their children Anya, Logan and Riley. Danielle played volleyball for the Shockers in 2002.
