Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul (pronounced SAT-ja-porn ma-ha-jah-run-KOOL, but better known by her nickname, “Yokkie”) is in her seventh season with the Wichita State women’s tennis program, arriving in January of 2010 as one of head coach Colin Foster’s first Shocker recruits.
After four seasons as a player and a fifth as a student-assistant, Mahajaroenkul became the team’s volunteer assistant coach in 2015-16. She also works in WSU’s International Admissions Office as a graduate assistant, helping manage the department’s social media accounts.
A native of Thailand, Mahajaroenkul earned her bachelor’s degree from WSU in Integrated Marketing and Communication and is currently pursuing a masters in Mass Communication/Media Studies.
During her time in Wichita, she has been an active volunteer at the Food Bank of Kansas and a mentor at local elementary schools. In December, 2013 she was one of three WSU student-athletes recognized by Wichita’s USD 259 school district with a Good Apple Award for her excellence in community service.
During her Shocker playing career, Mahajaroenkul was a two-time all-conference selection and a three-time conference individual champion for WSU, and she helped lead the team to MVC regular season and tournament titles in each of her three seasons on the active roster. She tallied 75 combined singles and doubles wins and won nearly 70 percent of her matches.
