Biography

As a Junior (2005-06)

Started all 28 games for the Shockers... Selected to the All-MVC Second Team and the MVC All-Defensive Team... Named WSU Athlete-of-the-Week on Dec. 5... Selected as Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week on Feb. 20... Averaged 29.1 minutes per game at center... Finished season as the conference leader in rebounding with 10.9 boards per game, which also ranked 13th among the national leaders... Ended the season with a .532 field-goal percentage, good for second among Valley players and 37th nationally in Division I... Joined Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris as the only players in Division I to record two games with 22 or more rebounds during the season... Recorded a career-high 24 rebounds against Illinois State (F17) and pulled down 22 boards against Evansville (J9)... Her 24-rebound performance against the Redbirds was the third-best single game rebounding performance in school history... Recorded a career-high 25 points against UMKC (N29)... Her 305 rebounds were the fourth-most in a season in Shocker history... Posted a team-high 12 double-double performances during the season... Recorded 22 games in double-figure scoring and a team-best 16 games in double-figure rebounding... Scored 20-plus points twice... Led the team in scoring eight times and was the team’s rebounding leader 22 times during the season... Ended the season with double-figure rebounds in six-straight games... Played a career-high 39 minutes at UNI (F26)... Connected on a career-high 10 field goals against UMKC (D17)... Recipient of the Defensive Excellence Award, the Rebounding Excellence Award and named Most Improved Player at the annual postseason banquet... Named to the AD’s Honor Roll in Spring 2006.

 

As a Sophomore (2004-05)

Started 18 games and played in every contest for the Shockers... Averaged 22.0 minutes per game in the post... Finished the season ranked second among conference players in field goal percentage (.528)... Also finished fifth in the conference and led the team in rebounding with 7.6 boards per game while leading The Valley in offensive rebounding with 3.22 offensive boards per contest... Pulled down a season-high 23 rebounds against Illinois State (F12), which tied the second-best single game mark in the nation in 2004-05... Tied for second on the team with 15 blocks and contributed 15 steals... Posted a team individual game and career-high four blocks against Creighton (F18)... Was second in The Valley with 9.3 rebounds per game in conference action... Scored 7.6 points per game overall and 8.4 points per contest in conference play... Led the team with five double-double performances... Recorded nine games in double-figure scoring and 10 games with double-figure rebounds... Led the team in scoring on four occasions and led the squad in rebounding a team-high 11 times... Scored a season-high 17 points against Illinois State (F12)... Posted a career-high four assists against UNI (M3)... Recorded a season-best 32 minutes played at Creighton (F18)... Recipient of the Rebounding Excellence Award at the annual postseason banquet... Named to the AD’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2004 semester.

 

As a Freshman (2003-04)

Started nine games while playing in 27 contests for the Shockers... Averaged 17.1 minutes per game... Recorded averages of 6.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg with 11 blocks and 15 steals... Second on the team with a .481 shooting percentage, connecting on 74-of-154 shots during the season... Ranked fourth on the team with 31 free throws... Had seven games in double-digit scoring and one game with double-digit rebounds, a season-high 11 boards against Indiana State (J31)... Tied a team season high with three blocks against Creighton (J19)... Scored a season-high 16 points in the Shockers’ win over Drake (J17)... Played a season-high 32 minutes against Miami [OH] (D7)... Named Missouri Valley Conference Rookie-of-the-Week for the week of Dec. 8, after recording 27 points, 15 rebounds and six steals in two games at the Oakland Tribune Classic... Sat out first season at Wichita State (2002-03) due to academic rules.

 

In High School

Attended Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo... Lettered all four years in basketball for head coach William Kanan... Broke the Interscholastic League and set a new Missouri State High School Activities Association record for rebounds in a game with 36 against Central HS... In back-to-back games against Van Horn and Southeast, Wells recorded 42 points/31 rebounds and 24 points/27 rebounds, respectively... Averaged 20.5 points and 16 rebounds.
