Jeff Chapman

Jeff Chapman is in his fourth second season as Video Coordinator. He assists the coaching staff with the initial breakdown of practice and game video and other analytics.

In his first season on the job (2019-20), WSU climbed as high as No. 16 in the nation during a 16-1 start to the year and was on the NCAA tournament bubble before COVID-19 put a stop to the postseason. In 2020-21, Chapman helped a Shocker team picked eighth in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll win the league's regular season title and earn an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament.

The former Shocker manager assisted the staff in a volunteer capacity during the 2018-19 season after two years coaching at the junior college and high school levels.

During the 2016-17 season Chapman served as an assistant coach at Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College, helping manage all aspects of the program, including on-court coaching, recruiting and academic oversight. The Eagles posted the best start in school history, winning their first 13 games on their way to a 27-7 finish and earned a spot in the FSCAA State Tournament.

In 2017-18, Chapman gained further experience on the player development side as an assistant for three-time Minnesota state champion Minnetonka High School, serving as head junior varsity coach.

Chapman earned his bachelor’s degree in history and ethnic studies from Wichita State in 2016. In four years as a men’s basketball manager, Chapman played a hand in the on-court development of Shocker players during individual workouts and practices, frequently working with the team’s post players. Chapman took an interest in video and scouting aspects and gradually assumed a larger role in those areas. From 2013-16, he was the team’s film coordinator, assisting the coaching staff with the recording, exchange and breakdown of game and practice film.

During his four seasons (2012-16), WSU was an astounding 121-24 (.834) with three Missouri Valley Conference regular season titles and four NCAA tournaments, highlighted by a stretch of three-consecutive 30-win seasons. The Shockers followed up a 2013 Final Four run with 35-straight wins to open up the 2013-14 campaign and earned the first No. 1 seed in program history. The following year, WSU took down Indiana and Kansas in the NCAA tournament to reach the Sweet 16.

The Wichita native played high school basketball at Maize South and was a member of the school’s first graduating class.
