As a true freshman for the Owls, Battie appeared in 20 games, making one start against South Florida on Feb. 26... In limited action, he averagd 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds on 68.3 percent shooting from the field... He was named the American Freshman of the Week after recording a season-high 16 points (5-7 FG, 6-8 FT) and eight rebounds against Monmouth.
High School
Battie was named the Texas 5A Player of the Year as a senior at Lancaster High School, where he led the Tigers to a state championship during his senior season... He scored 17 points, pulled down 19 rebounds and dished out four assists in the title game.
Personal
He is the son of Derrick Battie, a four-year standout for the Owls, who appeared in four NCAA Tournaments and helped Temple reach the Elite Eight in 1993... His uncle, Tony Battie, was the fifth-overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft and went on to play 14 seasons in the NBA.
