4/21/2026 11:00:00 AM

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State men's basketball head coach Paul Mills announced the signing of Jahari Long for the 2026-27 season.

Long, a grad transfer from Houston, Texas, will play his final season for the Shockers. He comes to Wichita State after one season at George Mason and two seasons at both Maryland and Seton Hall.

"Jahari is a proven competitor and an elite floor general," Mills said. "His enthusiasm for the game, his unselfishness and his understanding of the game makes him an invaluable addition to our team. He thrives as both a facilitator and a scoring threat. His control of tempo and making sound decisions with the ball really stand out as a player. Jahari is the type of player that allows us to build towards sustained success. Please welcome Jahari to the Shocker basketball family."

Long helped lead George Mason to a 23-10 record in 2025-26 that included an appearance in the A-10 Championship game and a berth in the NIT. He started all 33 games, averaging 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He converted 45.4 percent of his field goal attempts and 37.8 percent of his three-pointers on 130 attempts. Long scored 10 or more points 20 times and posted 10 games of 20 or more. He scored a season-high 27 points in the first round of the NIT vs. Liberty, playing all 40 minutes and going 9-of-17 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 5-for-6 at the free throw line. Long set a new EagleBank Arena record with 16 free throws made and finished with 25 points in the Nov. 11 win over Catawba. He dished out multiple assists in all but two games this season.

After starting his career at Seton Hall (2020-22), Long transferred to Maryland (2022-25). He missed all of the 2024-25 season due to injury.

He is the son of Marchanel Wilson and Jamaal Long, and he has four siblings.
